Machi Ue

I am inspired by everything around me for my desings: people, buildings,plants and most important-colors.

A simple white cloth can be changed by adding a little bit of color.


I enjoy colors.I mix and make my original colors for my designs as every design has different faces.


I like creating something simple and fun which images can make everyone feel happy!


Then I handprint the fabric one by one. Just like baking cakes,I look forward to seeing the results. All my works are very warm and sweet!

Machi Ue was born in Kobe, Japan.
After finishing college in Canada she went to Italy where she recieved her diploma in Textile Design.
In 2000,as a freelance designer,she had several personal shows and participated in various textile exhibitions.


In 2002, machi had a personal exhibition during the week of the"Salone del Mobile" in Milan.
After the exhibition her works were reviewed by various magazines.

She has been also selected for textile art exhibitions such as "Artist at work" at Textile Museum of Prato,Italy in 2003
11th International Treinnial of Tapestry at Central Museum of Textiles Lodz' in Poland 2004, Selected for Best 117 Designer ,100% Tile contest by 100% Design London 2005

Currently, she lives in Florence Italy.
